Spring

January 08,2011

January 08,2011 First posting of the New Year. It has been snowing here on and off post off the day. Very glad it hasnt amounted to anything. The goats have gotten all out today prancing around, jumping and dancing around.
It is precious to watch the triplets jump and explore all things new to them. In a few more months they will start having more babies. Although I think Amelia will give birth first she is the sheep.
The chickens enjoy getting out  scratching around in the snow today looking for that special treat. (dont think much was found). The pigs have been placed on craigslist for sale. have had several people interested but no one has shown up with the money yet. few more months and I will just sell them as roaster pigs and they will cost twice as much. The cows are enjoying the  pleasure of being down close to the house. They now share the round pen with the horses.
Chores have become so much easier now I bought a 300 gallon water tank I can slide in and out of the bed of my pickup , we fill it half way up with warm water twice a day and everyone gets all the water they can handle. No more 5 gallon buckets. I am happy. Its been very nice having Deanna here this weekend. She is in the sewing room working on a pillow. She made cookies today. Growing up so fast she will be 13 on March 21.
The cook stove is making the kitchen toasty warm with steak beat to a pulp filled with spinach and cheese is baking in the oven, mashed potatoes and spinach for suppa has everyones mouth watering with the smells. Apple pie and ice cream is for dessert in.
Today we had a nice visit from friends Tim and Karen. Karen is going to be making us our new farm sign. She does an excellent job painting. She brought me some  homemade yogurt today with goats milk. Cant wait to try it, thinking maybe with peaches mixed in. yumyum

Tomorrow will be bread making and cake baking day, to get dessert ready for this coming week.

we pray you all have Blessed week and thank you so very much for stopping by our web page. Stop by again, leave us a comment, suggestions of things you would like to see. I am thinking of starting a weekly recipe post. Some helpful hints from a country point of view.
