Spring

May 2012

Good afternoon from the mountain. Finally some babies born, well baby bunnies anyways. The 4 new baby chicks from last week that we hatched out are doing awesome. Damion just loves the bantam one.So tiny compared to the other 3. Boy if it would ever stop raining and the pasture would dry off it would be nice. Still waiting to get to the pasture, I need to redo the fencing so we can get the cows and goats up there.  Hoping to get the shelter barn up so  they will all have a dry shelter if it rains and shelter from the sun, this summer. Thats if the sun ever comes back out. Walked up back this weekend and sunk in wet soil. Alot of trees came down this past winter on the electric fence. But hey thats the start of this comings winter fire wood right.

Go pick up the  new incubator and baby chicks around the 18th. Before then need the chicken barn button up and several different pens made. There will be one for just our layers another for the next size  down and 2 more for the baby chicks. 1 from birth  and then from a month. 4 pens total.  All our layers are getting older so they need to be phased out and replaced when ready to lay pullets.

Hoping to have my 3 guinea hens that are missing show back up or will have to order some eggs to hatch. We havent had a problem with any ticks since we have had the guinea hens. 3 came up missing Monday and the one that is here is not happy,, runs around looking for them.. Hoping the 3 that are missing are girls and are off laying eggs.

Lucy the cow still hasnt had her calf yet. But she is huge.
No baby goats yet either,, Thinking Abby might be bred,, and some days Hemmi looks it,, but then other days ya cant tell.

Well Lilianna just woke up so I better get busy and feed her. Not feeling very well today she is teething and not a happy baby. So she is needing gramma attention today.

I was going to cook a pork loin for supper but thinking maybe stuffed pork chops instead,, same meat just different shape, rice and green beans to go with  it.. That should take care of supper.

Wish the clouds would go away and the sun would come out.. This several days in a row of rain is getting old as we just got done having a week worth and 2 days of nice now 3 days of rain again. Laundry doesnt dry well this way...LOL  But as I always say,, clean and wet on line is better than dirty and dry in the laundry room.

Ok time to get busy.
Have an awesome day.

God Bless

Donna
