Good morning from the mountain. All is still very dark and almost quiet. A kritters great and small are still enjoying their slumber time.
Grizzley the dog has decided to attach himself to and as my shadow lately. So having him sleep next to my side of the bed is not something i am use to or enjoy. my little mop dog makes way to much noise at bed time. But I notice i am up and enjoying my second cup of coffee he is now still as my shadow but sleeping soundly and quietly.
Mud Season is upon us,, I am so happy. For as I get older I like winter and cold weather less and less. i do understand so many out there are winter nuts,, but not me. as a kid we never came in,, as I have lived up here on the mountain almost 13 years this year, I so much enjoy the warmer weather. Falling to many times in the past where myself and gravity checks were a very common thing we became quite close,,really...
So excited to announce Ledge Hill Farm has piglets again. Bought these this past weekend and now have 5 to raise and sell for meat. With alot of new improvements going on, not sure whether I am going to get back into breeding them. Well not yet anyways. I do enjoy them and love to watch the babies run around the pens for the first time exploring.
No more baby goats yet. Starting to think Miss Daisy is to old to give birth, of course she is the size of a small house. Everyone else will start kidding out in the next few weeks. Looking at a very busy April. The twins still live in the house, Rosie and Pearl have taken up residence in my kitchen. Yesterday I introduce them to a kennel. Not really thinking they are very happy with me, but Sunday we came home to some of my magazines chewed on, a sewing box totally spilled out all over the floor. So figured it was time to pen them up when we arent home. Emily is now 6 weeks old and growing just awesome and Puddin will be 3 months on the 26th. cant wait to see who else has babies and what their little habits will be.
Was very Blessed a few weeks back to have the chance to sell 18 roosters. That has helped the chicken feed bill go down just a bit. Trying to count hens yesterday we are in the ball park of 70. Some will be sold out as they are getting old. Trying to maintain an average of 60 fresh layers at all time. Still looking for another large wire kennel for the ducks and geese. As they are still at the other farm. Very thankful for the help with them, but looking forward to having them come home and add to the egg laying supply.
So very happy to see warmer weather coming, I started some of my seeds yesterday 4 trays with 72 pods per tray. Need to get a few more. some how this summer I will have a green house put up, it probably wont be a commercial one, but for my needs and pocket book a hoop one would work just fine. Have informed Rob I cant eat the lawn so we might as well plant it. We dont have a lawn mower so to speak so why not make it all garden space.
Was told last week my mother is moving back to NH. I am very glad to hear that. Nice to have family around.
Well I suppose I need to get off the computer and get busy, its almost 5am and time to get the trucker up and going and I can see the bottom to my coffee cup.
I hope you have just an awesome day.
