April 2011

Last Day of April 2011

The sun is trying to come out, the clouds keep trying to hide it. It has been a rough couple weeks here. Emotionally draining from alot of people. In 1 weeks we lost to friends. Today will be the wake and tomorrow a funeral for a very good friend Milton. My Nick is so upset. Milton was his buddy. we have known him for over 25 yrs.
Didnt see each other alot, but when stuff happens Milton was always there for my Nick.
My heart breaks for Alice his girlfriend, they have been together 21 yrs.  many prayers and thoughts go to the whole Family.

Our snow has finally melted here. Now if we could get a few days of nice weather it would be great. We did have a beautiful day  Wednesday weather was prefect for alot of outside chores. I did get to move all my rabbits outside.

Still not warm enough in the house to go many days with no fire. This morning its 60 in side and 50 out, almost feels warmer outside. So gave in and started a fire. House needs to be warmer anyways to have my cinnamon buns rise.

Rob has to work today so he is out delivering wood and I am going out to do all the chores and cut up some more wood for the kitchen stove. Will let the goats out after the chain saw stops, they just want to be so helpful, more like they get in the way.

Got to spend a day this week with Deanna she helped me clean up around the farm stand and get that ready for a new season. She also painted me some new signs for my eggs for sale and bunnies.

Seems awesome to be able to hang clothes on the clothes line again. theres nothing better than the smell of fresh laundry. Sheets have that crisp snap to them. Just wonderful after a long day to crawl between fresh sheets, and snuggle in.
We have had rain every day this week, so waiting for the loads out there now to dry so they can come in and be placed with several more loads.

Had a wonderful visit with 2 cousins yesterday when they came to pick up the baby shower cake I had made. And by afternoon had an order for a wedding cake for  the end of May. So thats nice.
Today is baking alot for the funeral tomorrow and for the week for us.

Rob's  boss has put  in his request for cinnamon rolls, in quanity.. LOL

starting to warm up in here. feels comfortable again.. I must be getting old, dont like the cold any more. Would be happy at 68-70 year round.
I suppose I have 2 dozen eggs to peel for deviled eggs I ought to get busy.
The horse is looking at me,, like wheres breakfast momma?
Sure glad I didnt pack all the winter clothes away, turtle neck and sweatshirt today.

Will do a recipe blog later when I am baking. For now you all have a great day
Stay safe.. always tell them close you  love them . You never know when you wont have the last chance.

God Bless

April 21,2011, another spring day (right)

The sun is coming in the window enough this morning that I cant stop sneezing. Its ok i will deal with it. The sun is something we havent seen much of around here. The roosters are crowing and the goats are blatten.

Finally the puddles are drying up in the driveway, we have gone from 3 lakes to 1 puddle and a couple wet spots.

Yesterday my goats and sheep were penned all day because of the rain and they arent happy. Probably a good idea to let them out today or I will have a riot on my hands. Onyx is by himself in the livestock trailer and he isnt happy about it. But he bruised both front legs pretty bad. If in general population he will get trampled I am sure. Today I will put his mom back in with him for awhile.

The wind is blowing I am watching ripple go across my water tubs and the birches are swaying back and forth. Glad to see the sun shine though. Its been way to many days. I have to go out and cut up some more wood, still to cold at night not to have the stove going. Lots of laundry to hang up. Couple days without rain will do my laundry pile some good.

Been making rag wreaths, didnt think I would like them but they are coming out pretty nice. And I am my worse critic. havent put any extra decorations in them yet, just the cloth or lace and they look ok. Sold a couple already. Great way yo use up extra piece of fabric and lace. Only take a 1" x 6" strip of material. Knots are pretty self explanatory. LOL.
Did alot of baking the other day but most of it is gone, So this after noon looks like a baking day if I get all my things done outside.
My Bobby came by yesterday and did a wonderful job helping clean up the front yard of stuff. Stuff that got dropped, never taking  care of, just yuck stuff. Its not pretty by any means but its cleaner.
Cant wait till this hole in my front yard goes away a nd a farmers porch is put on. Been waiting along time to use my front door.

Well I need to post pictures of the wreath on the store front  product page.for sale. I hope you have a blessed day.

God Bless

April 13,2011 Damp Day

A day to reflect on all we have. several things have happened  to family members, which have made me feel extremely lucky to have what I have.
Last Sunday my cousin Heidi's son Corey was in a terrible dirt bike accident where he suffered terrible head trauma. Heidi since then has had a nervous break down of her own. The stress of  feeling helpless to help her son recover, and the disrespect of a girlfriend was more emotionally than Heidi could deal with at this time. many prayers have been sent and will continue for this family. I will go see Heidi today. I spoke to her last night. But  the woman i spoke to is a shell and broke little girl searching to come back.
It broke my heart to feel so helpless, as i spoke on the phone to her I knew she didnt know me. This is a great woman of faith. Heidi has faith stronger than alot of people I know. Now we have to get her to dig inside herself and find the faith of a innocent child and bring her back to us. This is a family who would go with out before they would allow others around them to suffer.
Last night i found out their home had suffered flood damage, not sure of all the details yet. They had been staying elsewhere and with money tight for every one, fixing it back up is becoming a struggle. its time the family and community gets together to help a suffering family.
We dont have lots of money there is no such thing as extra, but i do have friends who have the mean to help a little and if everyone can pitch in a little big things can be done. I will see what plumbing stuff they need to help fix the problems there, i have a account where we can charge, I know plywood is needed and sheet rock.
Last night this woman just wanted to come home, to home that is broken but its home. Broken or not its home. Its her security, her safety net.
I spoke to her husband and if any of you have ever talk to a man who is fearing his wife is gone, you know the helplessness he feels, the hurt and pain he is feeling of not being able to do anything. This giant of a man broke down  with the weight of the world on his shoulders. He fears for his wife the love of his life. This is a tight knit family where their children are their life. They are helpless to help their child and it devastates them.
prayers are needed in abundance, for the young man who lays int he hospital bed and for the family on the outside trying to heal with him.

So when you think your having a bad day or you dont have everything you want in life. Just always remember there always is someone who is having a tougher time. Someone who is suffering deep within, trapped with in their own emotions, their fear, the stress of life.
Remember always to give thanks in everything. If you wake up today and your healthy, look up and give a thank you.  if theres some one around you suffering offer a prayer, a kind word of encouragement. It might make the whole difference in their day. You never know the depth of someone else pain.
Smile you just might be the one to be blessed

Go  out and make it a great day

God Bless

Another Glorious Sunday Morning

 Another Glorious Sunday Morning!
Good Morning from Mt. Cardigan. What a glorious day this is. The sun is already showing its splendor and warmth. Chances of showers later but for now its great. I just enjoyed my first coffee of the day sitting on the porch. Hair a mess, flannel jammies and barefoot. What better way to enjoy a country morning  with a hot coffee and kritters abound. The day its its natural beauty.
The kritters are out and about. I just enjoy watching them first thing in the morning as they wake up to a new day. The energy the kids have and how they twist and prance around. As if that chunk of wood or bucket was put right there for them to play on. Natures play ground.
The new roosters are announcing to the whole yard its time to get up sleepy heads. Stop wasting such a wonderful day. I have missed having no roosters. Am blessed to have 5 now. Its funny to hear the difference in the crowing, from the little tiny bantams just learning to crow to the big boy who struts around like this is his barn yard.
Sitting on the porch I was greeted by several different cats who had to wish a good morning to Amelia and Uma and Ralphy (who doesn't come to close but still comes with the girls), and Abby and Blackie. My heart goes out to Bobby and Onyx as their momma went to visit another farm yesterday to help with milk for a need kid. They are prancing around crying for her til something else catches their eye to go and  be involved in.
Looking at Miss Abby, she needs to be milked today and what better day to start. Its nice out and  it will give us time together.
Watching all the chickens just out and about this morning , love the scratching and pecking they do, looking for that special treat. Right now Bobby the little goat is trying to  drink from the water tub, guess i better fill a shorter one today also the little guys are having a hard time reaching the water once it goes down a little bit, and they need all the water they can get now momma isn't here.
Can see Dot and Lucy this morning now, Dot still hasn't had her calf, my luck she will wait til it starts raining. She is showing all signs of being due any day. I am sure Lucy wont be far behind her.

More yard work to do today. More laundry to hang on the line. Opening up the house again once its a little bit warmer outside. Letting the fresh air in and kicking this cold, flu nasty bug out of this house. It was nice to  have the new air  yesterday. Have to get the rest of the baby gate from down by the rabbit pens to block off the doors so the goats don't come in, but the doors can be opened.
Looking  out towards the goat barn I see all the goats who are in the barn are waiting for the door to be opened, surprised Andy hasn't  banged it enough times to open it.
Moving rabbits outside today also. Getting as many animals outside as possible so I can clean the basement out. Good place for the bowflex to go and I can have my  living room back.

Sitting here waiting for the bacon to finish defrosting making bacon and eggs for breakfast, toast and coffee. Rob is waiting for me to get done typing so he can  go thru craiglist and see what wonderful special might be out there today.

I hope you get a chance to go out and enjoy the day.

God Bless

April 8,2011 I see the sun

AS Anthony would be telling me this morning if he were here.I SEE THE SUN GRAMMA! I do see the sun. My animals are all out enjoying the warmth from that big thing in the sky. Its already nice out, great working weather. I am headed outside to do chores, take some pictures and enjoy the day with the animals. I do have to go pick up another goat and some chickens today. best kind free to me. Do believe there will be a great clean up effort in this yard this weekend. The dump is open tomorrow and we have no where we have to be so i think its a good idea. Also we still have enough snow if we want to burn up some of the brush piles.
I picked up 5 new goats last weekend fro a wonderful family. 3 beautiful Nubian does and 2 little sannan males one buck one wether. breaking my heart but I am thinking of putting Andy up for sale. He is becoming so big, that he is pushing the smaller goats around and I am afraid he is going to hurt the little pygmy does. He is a great pet, but he using his weight towards his advantage. Not good when I need my little ones to stay healthy. I really just wanted to check in this morning will post more later, didnt realize it was already time to load up and get ready. So you all have a great day

God Bless
Take time to enjoy the sun shine
